In the atelier, Sofia and Çiğdem will work on beautiful songs from Turkey and Greece that talk about love, the joy of life, the pain of migration … each song corresponding to a dance! Follow the dance steps of tradition and explore the spicy flavours of the Eastern Mediterranean!

The participants will be able to attend the atelier with original scores only. The use of photocopies shall not be permitted. We will offer affordable set of sheet music specified by mentors of the atelier. The participants will be able to purchase them only after receiving the confirmation of participation in the chosen atelier. The link to the online store will be published here in April 2021.

Sofia Gioldasi (GR)

Sofia Gioldasi (GR)
Sofia Gioldasi is the conductor of the Voci Contra Tempo female vocal ensemble and of the Thessaloniki State Conservatory Choirs in Greece. Gioldasi has great experience in teaching children’s and youth choirs, specializing in intertwinement of choral singing, body movement and stage action. Between 2011 and 2014, she conducted the prestigious Nieuw Amsterdams Kinderkoor, with whom she had the honour to perform at the inauguration of King Willem-Alexander, and record for Deutsche Grammophon. Gioldasi has been a jury member at international choral competitions and is a much sought-after workshop and masterclass leader in Greece, Turkey, Italy and elsewhere.

Since 2005, Çiğdem Aytepe has been working at the State Conservatory of Hacettepe University Ankara, where she founded children's, youth, girls' and mixed choirs with her colleague Atilla Cagdas Deger. She has by now carried out numerous national and international projects, supported social responsibility projects and published two books for children. Currently, she is conducting the Conservatory Choir, the Turkish Radio Broadcast Ankara Youth Choir, Ertuğrul Oğuz Fırat Mixed Choir and the Saygun Philharmonic Choir that interpreted works such as Brahms' A German Requiem, Holst's The Planets and Debussy's Nocturnes with prestigious orchestras. She pursues her role as a leading educator with her contributions to choral music development and upbringing Turkey's young generations.
