Movement is an integral part of African music, so not surprisingly, this atelier will be all about traditional and contemporary singing and dancing. Join us on a journey of exploring African spirit in music and dance. Awake the African in you!

The participants will be able to attend the atelier with original scores only. The use of photocopies shall not be permitted. We will offer affordable set of sheet music specified by the mentor of the atelier. The participants will be able to purchase them only after receiving the confirmation of participation in the chosen atelier. The link to the online store will be published here in April 2021.

Ken Wakia (KE)
Ken Wakia is the recipient of the 2019 African Image Maker Award, conferred on him by the Voice Achievers Award. As a Fulbright scholar, he studied choral directing with Dr Jo-Michael Scheibe at the University of Miami, Florida, USA. Wakia started his conducting career at the Kenyatta University with Annetta Miller and Samuel Ochieng' Mak'Okeyo. He conducted at the 2019 Europa Cantat Youth Choirs in Movement, and in 2020 he conducted the International Schools of Southern and Eastern Africa's band and choir concerts in Lusaka, Zambia. Wakia also represented Kenya at the prestigious World Youth Choir as a singer and became one of the choir's conductors in 2017.
